Waste management, a solution for a cleaner planet
Our (Group #01, Batch186, AMAL Academy) mega project is related to society, and we struggled hard to target and achieve what was promised in the first blog. The irresponsibility that is being done by the people unconsciously makes a great difficulty for the other Homo sapiens. In order to eradicate this problem and provide proper awareness, we depict what we did during the tenure of our mega project.
Progress of the Group
During the first weeks, we created social media platforms in the form of Facebook Page and Facebook Group. The idea was supported and appreciated by most of the students, teachers, mates, and people.
This approach led us to have more power of working on this plan. Later on, a lot of posts were uploaded on this page regarding the tasks that we were performing on the basis of our major mission.
In the second week, our circle members, Tayyaba and Sumaira created posters and paintings to spread our message to the people in order to convince them. These paintings had strong, great, and considerable associations with our work.
These paintings helped us a lot while carrying our mega project and we really led the people to change their perspective. Tayyaba mentions that when she was making this painting, five kids (she teaches them) were impressed and promised that they will not throw waste outside, but in the trash bin.
After that, the third week was all about locating areas, targeting them, and removing waste. For that particular purpose, we removed the garbage from the areas which were so dirty and no one was paying attention to clean them.
Our circle member, Amir Naqvi finds an area and with the help of TMA, he cleaned the area and the garbage in the trolleys can be seen behind Amir and his team.
A lot of shopkeepers showed him gratitude and said that we have been facing this issue but this guy (in purple-black shirt) cleared it very effectively.
Conducting online session for awareness
In this age of technology and the duration of the pandemic named Covid-19, online education, webinars, and meetings took all the things in the right way. This might have declared but online communication tool Zoom assisted and made this possible for us to arrange a virtual meeting.
Our guest speaker was professional and he elaborated on each and everything in a perfect way that everyone could understand. During the session, people appreciated us showed gratitude for conducting a session for them. In the end, a lot of questions took place but our knowledgeable speaker handled them through facts, figures, examples, history, and of course, the current scenarios.

Creation of cloth bags and distributing them free of cost
The cloth bags were the answers to many questions because polythene bags have been causing drastic effects. Further, we analyzed through research that polythene bags are the biggest cause of waste. They don’t get decomposition even after a couple of years. This leads to bad impacts on our environment and health. Keeping in mind, we made cloth bags and distributed them free of cost. This small activity/input created a huge output.

Placing Baskets
This is one of the favorite activities that we performed while visiting the areas where this type of need was required. first of all, we bought them and later on handed them over to the area of need.
Awareness Campaign
Sumaira visited a school and as it was mentioned in our #Business Canvas Model. Further, she made charts and conveyed this message through these charts. She also adds that she delivered them a lecture on Waste Management for 1 hour. The students appreciated her and her enthusiasm can be seen in the picture clearly.
Challenges, we faced the most
It was exceptional that we would face issues and challenges regarding this task.
1. From the very beginning, we faced difficulties while finding the areas, but we did it.
2. Convincing people and conveying the main message was our problem. For example, people asked that why you have been doing this.
3. Later on, we could not find a mentor who will present the idea of the mega project. After three weeks, we were able to find a very professional mentor.
4. The pandemic affected our plan a lot and we could have met people in person.
5. We had only Sumaira for bag sewing but she was enough for this task.
6. The arrangement of online meetings sometimes disturbed us. Otherwise, we conducted 5 to 6 meetings during the Mega project.
7. A Large number of areas need to be clean but we haven’t enough resources.
8. Lack of funding by people but we managed together.
Change in approach
The change is inevitable and this is the reason we conducted online meetings with people along with face-to-face interactions. One of our circle members, Sumaira Rauf visited a school and spread awareness about the consequences of waste. How to decompose it and what type of things are necessary for the management. Further, the prevention strategies were shared and 210+ students promised that they would follow them.
Impact and sustainability
The impacts are very visible now and the bundle of efforts showed very appreciable results.
First, the cleaned areas are in a good position now and the people around these areas mentioned that
“They will keep the areas clean and try to follow what you people did for us”
Second, the cloth bags will decrease the use of polythene bags and the receivers promised that they would try to use them as much as they could.
Third, the organized session affected the perspectives of participants and shaped their vision. Further, they were able to get knowledge about this specific topic.

Fourth, the online presence in the form of Facebook page and group has been helping people read content, watch videos, and get updates.
Fifth, the paintings also played a vital role in the delivery of messages and convincing the majority of the people on a wide range.
Creativity in solution and teamwork
The subject, we selected, is one of the biggest issues of our society, and creativity only can handle this. The major reforms and strategies we applied were awareness meetings, creating cloth bags, and placing baskets. These things helped us a lot. We believe that our teamwork resulted in a way that helped us achieve what was promised for our mega project.
Future-oriented tasks
We are absolutely honored to share that our fellows, friends, followers, and relatives have the golden opportunity of getting a certificate and prize. In this competition, participants just need to find an area, send us some snaps of this area, and enroll themselves.
After that, the participants would have to submit their photos. Then, we would look at the photos and appreciate them in the form of prizes.
2) We would carry on our social media legacy and platforms for more updates. As a result, people would be in the line of this mission.
